After reading this, one can understand why some protestors wish Afghanistan and the Middle East should be left to their own devices, when apparently even our allies are as brutal as the Taliban they are trying to destroy.
Taliban attacks against the state and its symbols have left thousands dead in Afghanistan and are holding back plans to develop the country from the ruins of war, meaning much more international aid is spent on security than reconstruction.
